Energy-saving Controls

Real energy savings

The right dryer combined with an optimized control system produces real, hard-dollar energy savings. Afterall, a dryer should only consume electrical power when actually drying air.

A Dual Control dryer is ideally suited for applications with varying demands.  It's direct expansion, on/off load refrigeration system ensures a consistent dew point.  With a 60% air demand, the controller tells the digital scroll refrigeration compressor to operate loaded at 60% of the time.  With the compressor off during the remaining time, 40% of dryer power consumption is saved.

In another example, a Demand Manager dryer with its non-cycling, direct expansion refrigerant system and rapid response by-pass will ensure tight temperature control and consistent performance in applications with steady high-flow demand.

Refrigerant scroll compressor
Both the Dual Control and Demand Manager series are equipped with energy-efficient refrigeration scroll compressors.  These reliable and maintenance friendly scroll compressors, maintain a stable 38ºF dew point and use environmentally friendly R404a refrigerant.  Dual Control dryers are supplied with a "digital' scroll compressor that perfectly matches energy consumption to demand and then determines the amount of cooling energy needed to be sent back to the heat exchanger.

Control panels
A state-of-the-art control system on both Dual Control and Demand Manager dryers features timed auto start and stop to save energy during down time. The Dual Control models also feature a bar graph that displays energy savings during low air demand. It also provides a continuous pressure dew point readout. The two-column display and LED status indicator make operation even easier. Five languages are available. A test key is provided to check the function of the electronic condensate drain.

Low pressure drop
The efficient separation system and non-fouling, brazed plate heat exchangers keep pressure drop in the dryer to an absolute minimum. The pressure drop is up to 6 psi less than other dryer designs. For every 2 psi additional pressure that an air compressor must produce to overcome pressure drops in system components, an additional 1 % of power is consumed. Plus, the heat exchanger's design prevents contaminant build-up and eliminates the need for a prefilter to further reduce pressure drop.

High performance separation system
The integral Kaeser Filter / Separator (KFS) uses a two stage process to remvoe bulk liquid and solid particles 3 microns and larger.  The first stage consists of two stainless steel orific tubes, while the second stage incorporates an in-depth fiber media to capture solid particles and liquid droplets/mist.  The design provides efficient separation even under partial load conditions, and remains constant from 10 to 150% flow rate. The dew point also remains constant even when demand varies. A Kaeser Filter Monitor is standard with this series of energy saving dryers.
