Operation

(1) Compressed air first passes through a prefilter (not shown) that removes solid particles, liquid particles and any oil aerosols. The filtered air then passes into the membrane bundles (2) in the dryer. Water vapor in the air flows through the bundles where the water molecules are forced into the hollow synthetic fibers (3).

As the air exits the bundle(4), a portion is used to sweep the water out of the dryer (5). Dry compressed air is then available at the dryer outlet port (6).
