May 10, 2008Our progress continues at an amazing pace thanks in no small part to the hard work of many employees who have been here virtually around-the-clock to help in many capacities. First and foremost, we had more rain last night but the office roof did not leak. Work on the roof above the showroom, testroom and warehouse continues. ServPro is the recovery company hired to handle our recovery and they have literally sent an army of people to our facility. They have removed all the wet ceiling tiles, carpet and drywall. Dehydrating equipment and large industrial fans powered by a diesel generator have been installed. The affected computers are de-hydrating in a 40 foot container in the parking lot - this is an amazing concept when you think about it. Half of our HVAC system is running, and with power restored to the offices our servers are up and running. Temporary desks are being installed in the cafeteria, training room, warehouse conference room and my conference room. Temporary data lines will be completed tomorrow and laptops will be set up for temporary use while the desk tops are "recovering" and being restored. Offices on the right side of the building have been curtained off in order to accelerate drying. However, all necessary files have been removed and will be staged near the temporary desk stations. What about Monday? We are scheduled for another building inspection at 7am on Monday when we should receive an actual occupancy permit for the left side of the building. However, the right side will need more time to dry out. While progress has been good in these areas, it will likely be at least one week before it will be restored to its former usage. We are currently anticipating a "casual week" in Fredericksburg. Any changes will be posted on www.fredericksburg.com and employees are requested to check this site before leaving for work on Monday. Clean Air Treatment School will be held at the Rapid Machinery building at 212 Freedom Court in Fredericksburg (22408) - behind the Auto Auction. Special thank you to Bernie and Tanya Randhahn of Rapid Machinery for making this space available for us. We will continue to keep you posted. Frank Mueller |
