JEB Four Racing: A Tradition of Success

JEB Four Racing is a nationally ranked drag racing team well-known for their unique Top Sportsman class Super Henry J, racing over 210 MPH in the quarter mile. They belong to the NHRA Northeast Division, and race across the eastern United States. In 2011, expert teamwork, 1650 hp and a bit of luck resulted in a fantastic season. They finished third in Division 1  -- the fifth straight year they've been in the top 10. This year they are excited to add ADRL events to their schedule.

A Family Foundation

James Brooks founded JEB Four Racing along with sons Jeff, Jamie and John. They first introduced their unique Henry J dragster to the NHRA/IHRA circuit and the Super Gas class in 1993. This one of a kind car was based on the 1951 “Red Baron” that James took down the track in the 1960s.

Red Baron

While the ‘90s version had a professionally built, tube chassis with a fiber glass body by Bernard Weaver, it also included an actual Henry J roof to add authenticity. But it was a rough start, and JEB Four Racing rolled the original car in the first season. While searching for a replacement roof, the team discovered their father’s Red Baron in a junkyard.  With the help of Smith’s Body Shop in Fredericksburg, Virginia the car was recreated... and a brand new chapter opened for the team.

JEB Four signed their first major sponsorship deal with Kaeser Compressors in 1995. Over the next decade, the team won Divisional Races at both Englishtown and Delaware. JEB Four and the Kaeser Henry J routinely finish among the Top Ten in points, and recent years have brought increasing media interest with features on ESPN 2 and TNN as well as frequent print coverage in National Dragster. The classic Henry J was retired at the end of the 2006 season, but JEB Four had major plans for the upcoming 2007 season.

Never willing to settle, JEB Four Racing and Kaeser commissioned a new Top Sportsman Henry J for the 2007 season. Wanting to capitalize on the car’s national reputation while remaining true to the Henry J tradition, they decided on a new modernized Henry J offering a sleek, stylized take on the old classic.

Dan Page Race Cars built this one-of-a-kind dragster and included the latest technology in racing – the safety features, construction materials, and computer controls are all top of the line. The streamlined carbon fiber body was developed and hand-finished by Terry Hall. Bruce Deveau, working in conjunction with Dan Page, developed a unique paint scheme that was applied by Rick Bell. Ten year engine partner Sonny Leonard supplied the new 714 cubic inch engine, and like it predecessor, this hot new car is driven by a Bernard Weaver transmission. The "Super Kaeser Henry J" made its premiere at the 2006 Performance Racing Industry Show in Orlando, hit the track in April 2007, and has finished in the top 10 of NHRA's Northeast Division (Top Sportsman class) every year since its debut. In 2011 the team finished third in Division 1 Top Sportman and they qualified number one at both South Georgia Motorsports Park and at the JEGs Sportsnationals.
